Fan Wall Controls
Fan controls you can’t lose
Fan wall controls are a lot like fan remote controls, but, rather than having a remote control that moves around the room and is easily lost, the wall controls are stationary. As the name clearly suggests, fan wall controls are located on a wall and look similar to a light switch. Although these fans are not as convenient as remote controls, these controls are designed to be accessible and easy to use.
Fan wall controls have the ability to control the speed, direction, and on/off features of the fan through a panel on the wall, which is equipped with easy-to-use buttons and dials. This eliminates a lot of the hassle associated with fan chains.
Fan wall controls can be located at any point along a wall; however, most individuals choose to locate the fan wall control near a light switch or door. Locating a fan control pad near a light switch or a door makes it easily accessible when entering or leaving a room. Installing a wall control panel can be quite simple if the panel is replacing an existing light switch or electrical outlet. If there isn’t an existing outlet for your fan wall control, it is advisable to consult with an electrician before installing or mounting one of these controls.
Like fan remote controls, wall controls can be purchased in combination with the fan or on its own to accommodate a pre-existing fan. Purchasing both products at the same time will be easier and will likely save you some money. Adding a wall control to an existing fan may require elaborate electrical wiring; once again, consult an electrician before installing the control.
If you are thinking of purchasing a fan wall control expect to pay anywhere from $30-$70, depending on the make, model and form of purchase (on its own or with the fan).
