Fan Remote Controls
Remotes offer easy fan control
The convenience and simplicity of fan remote controls make them one of the most popular fan accessories. Fan remote controls are designed to eliminate the hassle and effort associated with normal fans; they allow you to control certain features on your fan without ever touching the fan itself.
There are two ways to purchase fan remote controls. You can purchase the remote control at the same time you purchase your fan, or you can add remote control features to an existing fan in your home.
Purchasing a remote control with the fan itself is quite a bit easier than hooking up a remote control to a pre-existing fan. This way you know the remote control is compatible with the specific model of fan you’re purchasing. When you’re adding a remote to a pre-existing fan, you have to make sure the remote is compatible with the model of fan you already have. It’s not that difficult, just make sure you ask before you purchase.
There are a number of functions that fan remote controls are capable of performing. Some of these features include the speed of the fan, the direction in which it moves, and its on/off features. Generally fans have three speeds – low, medium and high – and most remotes will accommodate all three speeds, but it’s a good idea to make sure before you purchase the remote.
Remote controls are usually used with whole house fans or ceiling fans; however, remote control accessories are not limited to just these types of fans. They are ideal for ceiling fans installed in a room with very high ceilings or fans with short pull chains – they take away the jump and grab acrobatics that most homeowners resort to when trying to grasp a fan chain that is just beyond their reach.
If you are thinking of purchasing a remote control fan, or would like to purchase a remote control for your fan, expect to pay anywhere from $30 to $70 extra. If you have the money, this fan accessory is well worth the cost.
